Thomas Gostner, GT, Italy, still leads the 15m class followed by Frederic Hoyeau, RC, France. In domestic 15m class the second is still Kai Kuusela, KK, Finland, flying a Mosquito. He is fourth in European Championships, 15m class.
In standard class the fastest on their 229km task was seasoned Italian, Leonardo Brigliadori, LB, 116.3km/h. Vesa Pajunen, CF, carries a GPS -based locator equipment which tells his position, direction, speed and height as well as his average speed, average lift/sink to the PC located in Räyskälä. Nauku (a nickname for Vesa) has taken part in the design and implementation of the system which, if becoming common, makes it very much easier for the public to follow the competition. The drawback is the high price of the equipment and some range problems experienced at Räyskälä also.
The third in standard class was the son of the day winner, Riccardo Brigliadori, RB, from Italy. His father has belonged to the world top pilots for decades. Riccardo is well on his way to challenge his father.
Herbert Weiss still firmly leads the standard class in the total results, though he has Asko Pankka, A2, Finland, right on his heels...
The coming Saturday will be a rest day. The next task will be assigned on Sunday, should the weather allow it.
